Notice of Pool Closure – Friday, February 21
We wish to inform you that the pool will be closed on Friday, February 21. This closure is necessary due to an ongoing water loss issue for which we have yet to determine the cause.
We have enlisted the services of a professional company to perform leak detection tests to locate and address the problem. During this time, we kindly request that you allow sufficient space for the personnel from the leak detection company to conduct their work efficiently and safely.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Leash Up! It’s the law.
Again, it has been reported that a different dog owner with an unleashed dog was encountered within The Enclave.
The neighbor encountered an unleashed brown dog at the community pool. The dog was accompanied by a man and another man with a leashed black dog was in the area. The neighbor explained to the gentlemen with the black dog on the leash that her dog had been attacked by an unleashed dog during a recent walk through the neighborhood. When she spotted the dog off-leash, she did let the man with the dog know that dogs, by law, are to be leashed. Although the gentleman with the brown dog responded, ‘he is friendly’, it is a City of Houston ordinance that dogs must be leashed.
After consulting with the Kingwood Police Station, they provided the following advice: Since the dog leash requirement is a City of Houston Ordinance, please contact the Kingwood Police Station at their non-emergency number, 713 884-3131, to report any loose dog(s). This should be done at the time of the incident. You will need to provide the address or nearest location address where the dog was seen loose. If possible, also provide the address of the owner or house associated with the dog.
If you carry a cell phone during your walk, they suggest taking a photo of the incident. The police will then take it from there. While the recent loose dog incident was discussed with the police, a formal complaint was not filed.
You may also contact Vickie Cain, Community Association Manager at Goodwin & Co., with the same information if the owner is known. She will send them a letter. This might be a good option if you believe it is a first-time offense, and the dog posed no threat to a person or another animal. This may serve as a warning, before taking further steps by filing a complaint with the Kingwood Police.

Be Responsible – Dogs Must Be Leashed
A loose, unleashed dog has been observed AGAIN in The Enclave. The dog was observed away from the owner’s private property or at the pool park area, with the owner. Not only is it unlawful, but it is also upsetting to those that do not like dogs or are afraid of dogs. Neighbors walking with their dogs, on a leash, are concerned for their personal safety and their dogs(s) when a dog is unleashed and loose along their walk or our common areas, including the park areas, in the neighborhood. Please respect your fellow neighbor and their precious fur-family member and leash up! And don’t forget – pick up after your dog.
If you see a dog off leash, accompanied by its owner, try informing the individual that a leash is required per City of Houston ordinances.
And to those that do follow the neighborhood posted signs and City of Houston ordinances, Thank You for being a good, responsible dog owner & neighbor.

Winter Weather Arrives Monday, Warming Centers Available
The Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is monitoring dangerous winter weather set to begin Monday evening and potentially lasting through Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS), has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect beginning at 6 PM on Monday, through 6 PM on Tuesday. A hard freeze with temperatures below 24 degrees, is expected for Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Snow, sleet, and ice are also expected with some areas receiving 4 inches of snow. Residents should monitor the latest forecast daily and remain weather-aware.
Residents are advised to make all necessary winterization preparations by Sunday evening.
Travel will become nearly impossible between Monday evening through Wednesday! Snow, sleet, and ice will impact all roads, bridges, and overpasses creating dangerous driving conditions. STAY OFF THE ROADS! Where you are Monday night at 6pm, is where you should plan to stay through Wednesday.
Residents are also advised to use 9-1-1 only in the event of life-threatening emergencies. First responders will face significant challenges due to high than normal calls for service as well as weather impacted streets. Longer response times may result.

Protect the “Four P’s”: People, pets, pipes, and plants.
People:
• Keep warm, stay inside if possible.
• Add layers to help keep you warm as the temperature drops.
• Check in with elderly family and neighbors to see if they need help.
Pets:
• Bring pets inside and move other animals or livestock to sheltered areas.
• Keep adequate food and water available.
Pipes:
• Protect any exposed outdoor pipes (sprinkler systems should be shut off and properly drained)
Plants:
• Bring potted plants inside or store them in a garage near the interior wall to provide extra warmth and protection from wind.
• For cold-sensitive outdoor plants, put down extra mulch and consider covering them with a cloth fabric of some kind to shield the plants from wind and frost.
Heater Safety:
Portable space heaters are often used to heat rooms and homes. If not used properly, they can cause fires, severe injuries, and death. If using a portable heater, remember these important safety tips:
• Keep heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn, including furniture, carpets, curtains, and people.
• Place heaters on solid, non-flammable surfaces.
• Never block exits with a heater and keep them out of the way of foot traffic.
• Keep children away from heaters.
• Always plug heaters directly into wall outlets – NEVER use an extension cord.
• Turn off and unplug space heaters when leaving a room or going to bed.
Protect yourself from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning by installing a battery-operated CO detector and never use generators, grills, camp stoves, or similar devices indoors.
Generator Safety:
If you use a generator, remember these important safety tips from the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
• Use portable generators outdoors at least 15-20 feet away from all doors, windows, and vent openings to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Never use a generator in an attached garage, even with the door open.
