Main Entrance Door Finish:

  • The existing door of a home cannot be painted. It must be maintained in a natural wood state protected by a clear finish, which has been proven to be durable in this climate.
  • A description and picture of a proposed replacement for an existing door must be attached to each application. Applications must be submitted and  approved by the ARC prior to the installation a new door.

Second Notice: Proposed Changes to Design Standards, Chapters 9 and 13
Houston, TX – City Council Member Dave Martin is requesting residents participate in providing public input on the approved changes to Chapter 19, and the proposed changes to Design Standards, Chapters 9 and 13, of the City’s Code of Ordinances. The City of Houston is looking for ways to reduce the risk of flood loss for future development and redevelopment which requires revisions to Chapters 9, 13, and 19. As District E will be impacted by new regulations, the Houston Public Works (HPW) Department will be hosting an open house meeting to provide information and solicit feedback on Monday, July 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m at the Kingwood Community Center, 4102 Rustic Woods, Kingwood, Texas 77345.
CHAPTER 19 GUIDELINES
The City of Houston adopted amendments to Chapter 19 in April and has posted an updated draft of the guidelines for public review and comment through today, Friday, June 29, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. These amendments will go into effect September 1, 2018.
DESIGN STANDARDS
Design Standards (Chapter 9 and 13 of the Infrastructure Design Manual and the Building Code) impact detention, sheet flow and fill. HPW is seeking public input on proposed changes through Monday, July 30, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. For more information on these proposed changes, please click here.

New Date (Kingwood): San Jacinto River Watershed Community Meeting
Houston, TX – Council Member Dave Martin would like to make Kingwood residents aware that the San Jacinto River Watershed Community Meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Kingwood Community Center, 4102 Rustic Woods Drive, Kingwood, Texas, 77345.

Of the five watersheds within District E, there are three upcoming watershed community meetings.
New Date (Kingwood) San Jacinto River Watershed: Tuesday, July 10, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Kingwood Community Center, 4102 Rustic Woods Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77345.

Greens Bayou Watershed: Saturday, June 16, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Magnum-Howell Center, 2500 Frick Road, Houston, Texas, 77038.

Clear Creek Watershed: TBD

The meetings will conclude August 1, allowing time for county officials to finalize the bond package for voters.

Today, June 12, Harris County Commissioners Court approved to place the $2.5 billion flood bond issue on the August 25 ballot, asking voters to finance a 10 to 15 year program of flood mitigation projects that include drainage improvements, upgraded warning systems, infrastructure repairs, home buyouts, and construction of more detention basins.

National Drug Take-Back Day in Kingwood

Houston, TX – Houston City Council Member Dave Martin is pleased to announce that National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will take place this year on Saturday, April 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Kingwood METRO Park & Ride, 3210 West Lake Houston Parkway, Houston, Texas 77339.

The national event, sponsored by the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, aims to provide safe and convenient disposal of prescription drugs while also educating the public on the potential for the abuse of prescription medications.  Sites will be available throughout the City of Houston for residents to drop off unused or expired drugs for safe disposal by law enforcement personnel.
